Hotel 1888, Pyrmont

Project Description: 1888 Hotel is a heritage listed 90 bedroom boutique hotel, eatery, bar and event space that combines contemporary design, modern-day comfort and a little of Sydney’s old world charm. Built in 1888, it was beautifully restored and relaunched as a boutique hotel in 2013.

MBC Role: Building code of Australia audit and advice on its compliance.

Novotel, Darling Harbour

Project Description: Located in the heart of Darling Harbour, Novotel is within walking distance to many of Sydney’s best attractions and the rest of Sydney is easily accessible through nearby public transport. The hotel is a luxurious 4.5 star accommodation and in addition to great views, they offer restaurants, a pool, gym and floodlit tennis court.

MBC Role: Accredited certifier and Principal Certifying Authority for internal alterations, including two new display kitchens, relocated bar & dining and lobby refurbishment.

Travelodge Wynyard

Travelodge Hotel, Wynyard

Project Description: Travelodge Hotel Wynyard is located adjacent to the Wynyard railway station and is a short walk from many major Sydney attractions including The Opera House, Harbour Bridge and historical Rocks area. The hotel amenities include dining, fitness & recreation and wheelchair accessible accommodation.

MBC Role: Building Code of Australia consultancy and advice on the concept plans to a proposed addition of four new rooms on the rooftop of the hotel.

Novotel SOP

Novotel, Sydney Olympic Park

Project Description: Novotel at Sydney Olympic Park is a 4.5 star accommodation and renowned conference and event space in the middle of Sydney Olympic Park. The hotel has 12 conference rooms that can suit small business meetings or large groups of up to 540 people.

MBC Role: Accredited certifier and Principal Certifying Authority for the internal alterations for the Wok On Inn tenancy and the installation of a digital signage structure for Novotel.

North Sydney TAFE

Project Description: North Sydney TAFE (currently known as St Leonards Campus) is a prestigious education institution located at 213 Pacific Highway, St Leonards, NSW 2065. The campus has teaching facilities catering to students in a wide range of disciplines including health, digital media and information technology.

MBC Role: Provision of Building Code of Australia Consulting and certification services during the design phase for works in Block A, C, D & E external works and linking walkway.

Lidcombe TAFE

Project Description: Lidcombe College is one of nine South Western Sydney Institute colleges that provide high quality vocational education and training opportunities in the region. The campus is located at 73 East Street, Lidcombe NSW 2141 and contains 12 buildings that provide spaces and facilities for training in plastering, timber trade, glazing and other trades to 6500 students.

MBC Role: Provision of Building Code of Australia Consulting and certification services during the design & construction phase for refurbishment in Block C, D & E, and design phase of refurbishment work in Block B.

Wetherill Park TAFE

Project Description: Wetherill Park TAFE offers facilities for students studying in automotive, heavy vehicle and plant mechanics section. The campus is the largest provider of training in the repair and service of heavy vehicles in New South Wales. The campus also offers facilities for tourism and hospitality, a childcare centre that caters to 40 children.

MBC Role: Accredited certifier of the proposed demolition of three buildings, refurbishment of two buildings and construction one new building.

Anzac Park Public School

Project Description: The new Cammeray Public School is located at 2 Anzac Avenue, Cammeray NSW 2062. The new four storey classroom building has floor area of more than 8000 sqm and is expected to house 1000 pupils. The project has anticipated cost of 22 million.

MBC Role: Building Code of Australia Consulting, inspection and certification services for the design and construction of the new school.

Mowbray PS

Mowbray Public School

Project Description: Mowbray Public School is located at 635 Mowbray Road, Lane Cove North NSW 2066. It is an expanding school located in the lower north shore area with enrolments of 378. The new facilities include a new 4 storey school buildings, extended hall, carpark, outdoor play areas and associated landscaping.

MBC Role: Building Code of Australia Consulting, inspection and certification services for the design and construction of the new school.

Canterbury Public School

Project Description: Canterbury Public School is a government school teaching Kindergarden to Year 6 students. The school was established in 1878, with a new school hall added in 2011 for assemblies, arts activities, concerts and various other student activities. The estimated number of students is 255. The building works include stair upgrade for BCA compliant egress, exit & emergency lighting, door upgrade and associated works in Block C.

MBC Role: Building Code of Australia Consultant for the proposed building works for access upgrade.

Hunter Sports High School

Project Description: Hunter Sports high school is a partially selective high school located in Pacific Highway, Gateshead. Being one of the most prestigious high schools in the hunter area, the campus is presently in the planning stage of a major redevelopment. The anticipated facilities of the redevelopment include new classrooms, visual arts and science labs, trade training classes, library and refurbished canteen.

MBC Role: Building Code of Australia Audit of eight existing school buildings and provision of comment on fire egress, access and essential fire services.

Canada Bay

Canada Bay Primary School

Project Description: Known as The Victoria Avenue Community Precinct, the new primary school project is a joint venture of the NSW Government and the City of Canada Bay that was completed in early 2015 to serve up to 600 students. The campus also caters for outside school hours care centre and a children’s centre with 47 places.

MBC Role: Building Code of Australia Consultant for the design and construction of the new school buildings and associated facilities.

Chatswood Public School

Project Description: Chatswood Public school is located at Pacific Highway and is within walking distance of Chatswood Railway Station. As part of preparation for the new school, twelve off-site demountable classrooms are proposed to be built as well as minor refurbishment to the existing administration building.

MBC Role: Building Code of Australia Consultant involved in assessment of the concept design, reporting and certification for the proposed demountable school and refurbishment to the administration building.

The Ponds High School & Public School

Project Description: The Ponds High school is opening in Term 1 2015 and the new school shares a site with Riverbank Public School. With enrolment of approximately 200 students, the Ponds High School will provide quality learning for the pupils via enrichment programs, a multi-categorical class, targeted learning assistance programs and a dedicated boys’ class program. The campus provides support to students with disabilities.

MBC Role: Building Code of Australia Consultant for the construction of a new high school, public school and new school of specific purpose.

Artarmon Public School

Project Description: Artarmon Public School is located at McMillan Road, Artarmon and is undergoing a major upgrade of its school facilities. The anticipated outcome of the project will unify the two separate school campuses, utilise outdoor areas for learning and create a contemporary learning environments.

MBC Role: Building Code of Australia Consultant for the concept design of the new school, including the erection of the temporary demountable school facilities.
